Unless an optional form of benefit is selected pursuant to an election within the election period (see § 38.053), the automatic form of benefit payable to or on behalf of a participant is determined as follows:
(A) Retirement benefits. The automatic form of retirement benefit for a participant who does not die before his annuity starting date shall be the normal form.
(B) Death benefits. The automatic form of death benefit for a participant who dies before his annuity starting date is determined according to the provisions of § 38.040. (Ord. 1806, passed 1-7-15)
