§ 32.092 AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE DIALINGALARM SYSTEMS.
   (A)   For the purpose of this section the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE DIALING ALARM SYSTEM. A system which, upon being automatically activated, transmits by telephone and telephone line, a recorded message or any other electronic, emergency, or mechanical alarm signal to the City Police Department notifying the Police Department that a crime was being committed or that an emergency situation exists. However, public coin telephone alarm systems, alarm systems which are utilized by governmental departments or agencies of Broward County or the city, alarm systems which transmit to the City Police Department live voices capable of two-way communication; or alarm systems which are automatically answered by the response of a private security alarm service agency to the premises are expressly excluded from the definition of the term AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE DIALING ALARM SYSTEM as used in this section.
   (B)   It shall be unlawful for any individual, person, firm, or corporation to sell, offer for sale, install, maintain, lease, own, possess, or operate an automatic telephone dialing alarm system connected to any exchange telephone trunk line within the city, which is regulated to make telephonic communication with any telephone line leased by the city and installed within any facility operated by the City Police Department.
   (C)   The Chief of Police and any officer serving under his direction, when he or they have knowledge that the unlawful maintenance of an automatic telephone dialing alarm system is installed and operated in violation of this section, shall order the owner, operator, or lessee to disconnect and cease operation of the system within 48 hours of receipt of the order. Automatic telephone dialing alarm systems installed prior to the effective date of this section shall be removed within ten days of such date.
