(A) Definition. For the purposes of this section, NONEMERGENCY TRANSPORTATION SERVICE shall mean the transportation of persons while on stretchers or wheelchairs or whose handicap, illness, injury, or other incapacitation makes it impractical to be transported by a regular common carrier such as a bus or taxicab and who neither need or expect to need medical attention en route.
(B) Provision of city services. The Fire/Rescue Department of the city shall provide nonemergency transportation service within the boundaries of the city.
(C) Administration. The Chief of the Fire Department, with the approval of the City Manager, shall establish procedures, rules, and regulation for providing nonemergency transportation service within the city. (Ord. 1240, passed 12-10-97; Am. Ord. 1697, passed 9-7-11)
