(A) Any person convicted of a criminal offense, other than a minor misdemeanor, and who, as a consequence thereof, is confined in the county jail, shall reimburse the village for its expenses incurred by reason of his or her confinement, including, but not limited to, the expenses relating to the providing of food, clothing, medical care, and shelter.
(B) Village legal counsel is authorized to institute any appropriate civil suit for the recovery of the expenses referred to in division (A) above, the amount of the reimbursement to be determined by the court pursuant to R.C. § 2929.37(a).
