§ 96.55 ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER.
   (A)   Office created. There is created the position of Animal Control Officer for the City of Paxton, Illinois.
   (B)   Appointment. The Mayor, with the consent of the City Council, may appoint an Animal Control Officer.
   (C)   Duties. It shall be the duty of the Animal Control Officer to see to the enforcement of all of the ordinances of the city and all statutes applicable therein as pertain to animals within the city and to prevent infractions of the laws and arrest violators thereof and to perform such additional duties as may be assigned to the Animal Control Officer by the Chief of Police or by the Mayor.
   (D)   Supervision. The Animal Control Officer shall be under the direct control and supervision of the Chief of Police.
   (E)   Fees and expenses. The Animal Control Officer shall receive an annual salary of $4,800 in the performance of duties as required under the terms of this chapter. The city shall furnish to the Animal Control Officer a motor vehicle to assist in the performance of the duties of the office and shall pay all expenses incurred in the operation and maintenance of the motor vehicle. The Animal Control Officer shall not be entitled to any other compensation or benefits that may be furnished by the city to any other employee of the city.
