§ 33.10 MISCELLANEOUS SALARY PROVISIONS FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT.
   (A)   Police Captain overtime pay. The Captain of Police is employed on the basis of 80 hours in a 14-day period, Sunday through Saturday, and working a shift not to exceed 12 hours per shift. If the Captain of Police renders more than 80 hours in a 14-day period, Sunday through Saturday, or 12 hours per shift when the Captain has been assigned to a 12-hour shift, in services for the City of Paxton, he or she shall be paid at an hourly wage equal to one and one-half times his or her usual and customary hourly wage, based upon the wages set forth in § 33.30(B). In the event that the Captain renders more than eight hours per shift in services for the City of Paxton, during a period when the Captain has been assigned to an eight hour per day shift, he or she shall be paid at an hourly wage equal to one and one-half times his or her usual and customary hourly wage, based upon the wages set forth in § 33.30(B). Benefit salary shall not be included in the overtime pay compensation.
   (B)   Break time. The Chief of Police and the Captain of Police are entitled to either (i) a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks, or (ii) a 45-minute lunch break and one 15-minute break each eight hour work shift. During the break time, they are required to respond to all police calls received.
   (C)   Compensatory time. The Captain of Police may receive compensatory time off or overtime pay. Compensatory time is earned at a rate of one and one-half hours for each hour of overtime worked. Compensatory time may be accrued up to a total of 40 hours only. He/she must be paid cash for overtime worked after they have accrued 40 hours of compensatory time. Compensatory time may be used by the Captain only after requesting and scheduling the same at least 48 hours in advance with the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police shall consider the manpower needs of the Police Department in determining whether or not to grant the use of the compensatory time as requested. Benefit salary shall not be included in the compensatory time compensation.
   (D)   Equipment allowance. At the beginning of each fiscal year, the city shall provide the Chief of Police and the Captain an annual equipment allowance in the amount of $400 for the purchase, replacement, repair, cleaning and maintenance of required or authorized footwear and equipment. Such allowance shall be in the form of a line-item cash voucher system in the name of the Captain/Chief of Police. They shall not be entitled to any accumulated equipment allowance upon their termination of employment with the city. A paid receipt for the purchased footwear or equipment shall be delivered to the City Comptroller within 30 days of the purchase of the item(s), but not later than April 25 of any fiscal year for purchases during March and April of said fiscal year. Failure to so deliver the receipt shall result in forfeiture of the right to reimbursement. Any amount remaining in that person’s line item at the end of the fiscal year shall be forfeited.
   (E)   Evidence officer. The Captain is responsible for receiving, storing and logging all evidence related to crimes in the city and shall receive an additional $0.60 per hour in addition to the base salary above set forth.
