(A) This section applies to all jury duty, in any court of any kind, including the Circuit Court of a county or a federal court.
(B) A full-time city officer or full-time city employee is a person who is at least 21 years of age and who is employed to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and whose employment is contemplated to extend for ten or more months. A part-time city officer or a part-time city employee is a person who is under the age of 21 years or a person who is employed to work less than 40 hours per week or a person who is employed to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, but whose employment will terminate in ten months or less.
(C) Any full-time city officer or any full-time city employee being summoned for jury duty shall automatically be entitled to leave during the time of the jury duty. Leave shall be granted for all the time the individual is required to report to the court, including days on which the person reports but no jury assignment is made.
(D) During jury service, each full-time city officer or full-time city employee shall continue to receive all of the city officer's or city employee's fringe benefits and all payments to pension plans. The full-time city officer or the full-time city employee shall continue to receive the officer's or employee's salary, less any amount received for jury service. In determining the amount received for jury service, any amount paid for travel costs shall not be included.
(E) Any city officer who is not employed by the city on a full-time basis or any city employee who is not employed on a full-time basis, who is summoned for jury duty, shall automatically be entitled to leave during the time of the jury duty. Leave shall be granted for all the time the individual is required to report to the Court, including days on which the person reports but no jury assignment is made. During jury service, no compensation shall be paid by the city to said city officer or city employee who is not employed on a full-time basis.
(F) Any employee who is permanently excused from jury duty and permitted to return home shall report the matter to his or her supervisor immediately. Any person excused for the day before 12:00 o'clock noon shall report to the city for work during the afternoon by 1:00 p.m. Any person excused for the remainder of the jury time, and told not to report back to the court, shall report for work for the city as soon as possible.
