§ 33.04 EMPLOYEE HOLIDAYS.
   (A)   (1)   Non-salaried employees. Employees of the city, except for salaried employees and employees governed by a separate collective bargaining agreement, shall not be required to work on the following holidays, except as required in emergencies: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day thereafter, and Christmas Day. Employees of the city shall be paid their straight-time rate for these designated holidays.
      (2)   Whenever a holiday designated in subsection (A)(1) falls on a Sunday, the department’s offices, except for the Police Department, will be closed on the following Monday and that day granted as a holiday for all employees.
      (3)   Whenever a holiday designated in subsection (A)(1) falls on a Saturday, the department’s offices, except for the Police Department, will be closed on the preceding Friday and that day granted as a holiday for all employees.

      (4)   Non-salaried employees shall receive holiday recognition pay in the amount of eight hours straight time pay. An employee who works on one of the above holidays shall be paid, in addition to said recognition pay, at the rate of one and one-half times their normal rate of pay (computed on an hourly basis, 40 hours per week) for all hours worked on that day.
      (5)   In the event the employee has terminated employment with the city and at the time of termination the employee was in good standing with the city, then the employee will be entitled to any holiday leave left on the books at the time the final salary is paid by the city to the employee.
   (B)   (1)   Salaried employees. Any salaried employee who works on a holiday as designated above in division (A) may take off an equal amount of time, hour for hour, as the employee worked on the holiday.
      (2)   The time off must be taken within 30 days of the holiday or the employee forfeits the additional time off.
