§ 35.08 DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION AND OFFICIAL REPORTS.
   (A)   Policy. It is the policy of this office that all information and official reports are normally to be considered confidential in nature. At no time will a member of this office release any confidential, false or misleading information to anyone without prior authorization from the Chief of Police or Captain.
   (B)   Procedure.
      (1)   Members of this office may release copies of traffic crash reports to insurance companies, news media and involved parties, at no cost. However, they will not be faxed to the media. Only the OH-1 pages will be released. All statements, supplements or additions are only to be released with the authorization of the Chief of Police, or Captain.
      (2)   Members may complete and release criminal record checks for adults, from proper requesting authorities, who provide required documentation. All juvenile criminal record checks must be obtained at the Juvenile Court.
      (3)   Insurance companies or involved parties may receive copies of service request or property lists for determination of a reported crime. No written, taped or other recorded statements, confessions, drawings or other crime reports will be released to anyone, other than prosecutors, judges, police officers, probation/patrol officers and human service employees without the prior consent of the Chief of Police or Captain.
