§ 1511.04 SPRINKLER PROTECTION AND AREA LIMITATIONS.
   (a)   Approved automatic sprinkler systems in accordance with the applicable NFPA Standard for Sprinkler Systems will be installed in all new buildings used for any occupancy, exceeding the area limitations noted in Appendix B of the ordinance codified herein. Sprinkler protections for occupancies covered by division (b) hereof are required to provide sprinkler protection regardless of area limitations.
   (b)   Sprinkler protection (certain occupancies) include the following.
      (1)   All nursing, convalescent, old age, custodial care, and long term or extended care homes or institutions, existing and new, regardless of the type of construction, shall have a complete automatic sprinkler protection in accordance with Standard 13 contained within the National Fire Codes and incorporated by reference in § 1511.03.
      (2)   Homes or institutions caring for more than three patients shall meet the requirements of this section.
      (3)   All new correctional or detention facilities as defined in the Life Safety Code shall be protected throughout with a complete automatic sprinkler system in accordance with NFPA-13, Standard for Sprinkler Systems.
   (c)   The State Fire Marshal will enforce the code.
