There shall be a Traffic Bureau in the Police Department consisting of such number of men as may be appointed from time to time by the Mayor upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police. The Traffic Bureau, under the direction of the Chief of Police, shall be charged with the responsibility for the enforcement of the Traffic Code. For this purpose, the Chief of Police is hereby authorized, whenever he deems it necessary, to delegate to the Traffic Bureau any of the powers and duties conferred upon him by the traffic ordinances of the City. The Traffic Bureau shall perform such other duties as are prescribed by the rules and regulations of the Police Department. (1947 Code §24.11)
