Every member of the Police Department shall, before entering upon the duties of his office, take the oath prescribed by the Charter and give bond in the amount prescribed under Article 139 with surety to be approved by Council, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of his office and for the faithful accounting of all moneys and property which may come into his hands by virtue of his office.
