In the event that any regular or alternate member's term expires, that member shall maintain all their appointed rights and responsibilities until such time that a nomination is approved. In the event of a death or resignation of a member, the vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term by an alternate member from the same board, committee, or commission. Any regular or alternate member who has unexcused absences for at least fifty percent (50%) of the regular meetings of a board, committee, or commission in a given calendar year or three (3) consecutive unexcused absences, shall be considered as not fulfilling the obligation assumed by acceptance of appointment to the board, committee, or commission. Excused absences shall include, but are not limited to, family and health related issues. The decision on whether an absence was excused or unexcused shall ultimately be decided by the chairperson of the board, committee, or commission. The chairperson of the board, committee, or commission will report to the staff liaison the status of each member's absences.
