§ 51.52 METER TESTING.
In the event a customer questions the accuracy of the meter serving his or her property, the meter shall be checked by the City Water Department. If the Water Department is of the opinion that the meter is operating properly and the customer continues to question the accuracy of the meter, the city shall require a deposit in the amount specified in the city’s current fee schedule to be paid, and the meter shall be removed from the customer’s property and tested by an independent testing firm. If the meter is inaccurate by more than 1%, the city shall refund the deposit and absorb the cost of a new meter. If the meter is accurate within 1% or less, the deposit shall be retained by the city.
