1440.09 STOP WORK ORDERS.
   (a)   Whenever any work is being done in violation of this Building and Housing Code, or at variance with the terms of a permit issued for such work, the Mayor or the Commissioner of Public Property and Building, or a designated agent of the Mayor or of the Commissioner, may order all work on the job stopped until such violation or variance is eliminated and until any work or installation made in violation of this Building and Housing Code is corrected. Such stop work order, if oral, shall be followed by a written stop work order within twenty-four hours, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
   (b)   No person shall perform any work in violation of such a stop work order, except as may be necessary to prevent injury or damage to persons or property, as determined by the Building Inspector.
   (c)   Such stop work orders may be revoked by the Commissioner or Council.
