(a) There is hereby established the position of Village Code Enforcement Officer who shall be appointed by the Village Council and assigned to the Building Department.
(b) The Village Code Enforcement Officer shall perform the following duties and principal responsibilities:
(1) Inspect the incorporated Village for any Code violation, including, but not limited to, the following:
A. Fences;
B. Remodeling;
C. Additions;
D. Pools;
E. Garages and other accessory buildings;
F. Changes in topography such as filling or excavating;
G. Trenching;
H. Signs and lights;
I. Unused and/or unlicensed vehicles;
J. Demolition;
K. Safety hazards; and
L. Nuisances.
(2) Determine whether any of the aforementioned activities observed requires a Village permit, and if so, whether one has been obtained.
If a permit is required, but has not been issued, the Code Enforcement Officer should issue a stop work order and advise the owner/contractor to stop work immediately and apply for a permit. The Code Enforcement Officer should supply a copy of the stop work order to the Building Department and the Police Department immediately.
(3) Report drainage problems and address solutions to such problems with the Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements.
(4) Conduct Building Department inspections as directed and required by the Building Department.
(5) Make field inspections of the general area around utility installations with regard to damage to trees, roads and property.
(6) Assist in easement acquisition.
