The connection from the main to the service cock shall be placed at least five feet below the level of the ground. The copper pipe shall be laid so that it shall be at least one foot longer than if laid in a straight line and shall be placed in such a manner as to prevent rupture or breakage from settling in the ground, by forming a gooseneck at the point of connection, as provided in Section 1046.19.
