There is hereby created a Fair Housing Commission (the Commission), consisting of five (5) members who shall be residents of the Village and who shall serve for a term of three (3) years. Each member shall be appointed by a majority vote of the Village Council. The chairperson of the Commission shall be appointed annually by a majority vote of the Village Council. The terms of office for the initial appointments shall be as follows: one (1) member for one year, two (2) members for two (2) years and two (2) members for three (3) years. Village Council members, landlords, real estate sales people, real estate brokers, officers and employees of financial institutions which lend money for real estate acquisitions, and attorneys who engage in real estate transactions involving real estate within the Village shall be prohibited from serving on the Commission. The Village Attorney shall serve as the attorney for the Commission.
