It is declared to be the public policy of this Village, in the exercise of its power to regulate for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare, to assure fair housing and freedom from discrimination throughout the community, to protect the community from the effects of residential segregation by race, color, religion, creed, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, marital status, military status, unfavorable discharge from military service, familial status, or physical or mental handicap, and to secure to its citizens the economic, social, and professional benefits of living in a stable society.
