256.21 EMPLOYMENT POLICY.
   (a)   Council hereby adopts the following policy:
      (1)   The Village of Palos Park is committed to prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, age, religion, national origin or handicapped status throughout the employment process, from selection through termination;
      (2)   The Village shall hire individuals solely on the basis of job-related qualifications and their ability to perform a job. Unless otherwise provided in writing, employment with the Village shall be considered to be at-will, so that either party may terminate the relationship at any time and for any nondiscriminatory reason;
      (3)   The Village shall assume the necessary steps to comply with existing Federal, State and local fair employment laws and guidelines;
      (4)   All officials and personnel of the Village shall comply with the policy and procedures set forth in this section; and
      (5)   The Village Manager is hereby authorized to oversee the implementation of civil rights compliance.
   (b)   A copy of this section shall be posted in the office of the Village Clerk, which shall serve as notice of the Village's employment policy.
