§ 91.01 COMMISSION.
   (A)   The commission on animal care and control shall be appointed by the mayor and consist of up to seven members including:
      (1)   The chief of police;
      (2)   The chairman of the public safety committee;
      (3)   The code enforcement officer;
      (4)   A local veterinarian; and
      (5)   Up to three members at large.
   (B)   The chairman of the public safety committee shall be the chairman, and the commission shall meet at the call of the chair. All members shall serve without compensation until the mayor duly appoints their successor. The commission shall function as an advisory body to the mayor and city council and shall be responsible for policies necessary to implement the enforcement of this chapter. In addition, the commission shall review this chapter from time to time, assist the police department and public safety committee in making information regarding animal issues available to the general public, and may assist in arranging guest speakers, presentations to school children, programs on local cable television access, and assist the press with newspaper articles.
