(A) Parking of recreational vehicles less than 20 feet in length. Parking of vehicles 20 feet or less in length is permitted on city streets, except between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., and on private property.
(B) Parking behind building line. Parking or storage of recreational vehicles in excess of 20 feet in length on private residential property is prohibited unless in conformity to each of the following conditions:
(1) The vehicle cannot exceed 35 feet in length or 8 feet in width. A boat or watercraft with trailer can not exceed 25 feet in length, 8 feet in width or 12 feet height. All recreational vehicles and trailers must display valid vehicle registration as required by the Illinois Compiled Statutes.
(2) Between October 1 and March 31 of each year, if the vehicle is parked or stored outside of a garage or building, it shall not be located nearer to the front lot line of the premises than the front building line of the lot or that portion of any structure located on the lot which is nearest the front lot line.
(3) Storage of recreational vehicles in excess of 20 feet in length on private residential property is prohibited unless the vehicle is the property of the private property owner or family member regularly living on the premises of the property owner.
(4) Storage of recreational vehicles shall be no closer to the rear lot line than 5 feet, and no closer to the side lot line than 2 feet.
(C) Parking in front of building line.
(1) From April 1 to September 30 of each year a resident may park on their designate residential driveway one recreational vehicle not exceeding 42 feet in length or 8 feet in width or one boat or water craft with trailer not exceeding 25 feet in length, 8 feet in width or 12 feet in height.
(2) From November 1 to March 1 of each year a resident may park on their designate residential driveway one snowmobile trailer not exceeding 20 feet in length or 8 feet in width and carrying no more than four snowmobiles.
(D) The Building Commissioner is authorized to issue a permit for parking of a recreational vehicle under the following circumstances:
(1) The recreational vehicle, when parker or stored, shall not be regularly occupied or used for living, sleeping, or housekeeping purposes.
(2) When the Chief of Police issues a permit for the parking of the vehicle on a residential lot, the vehicle may be used for living, sleeping, or housekeeping purposes during the permit period.
(3) A permit may be issued authorizing continuous parking for a period not to exceed two weeks.
(4) No more than two permits may be issued for the same location or vehicle within any 12 month period.
(5) If the Chief of Police concludes that there will be no adverse effect upon the public safety, he is authorized to grant a permit for the periods herein set forth for the parking of the vehicle herein described on the street or within the lot line of a residential lot.
