A main shutoff valve on the water service pipe shall be provided at or near the curb. All extension curb boxes shall be of the Minneapolis Pattern #5622 with the base tapped to 2 inches bushed down to 1-1/2 inches, with stationary road and Model #5623 type lid, or an approved equivalent, to be included, an accessible shutoff valve shall be provided inside, near the entrance of the water service pipe into the building. The curb valve shall be installed in an approved cast-iron valve box or valve manhold, easily accessible, and protected from frost.
