§ 35.04-1 DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE; ADMINISTRATIVE APPOINTMENT; TERM.
   (A)   The chief of police may appoint up to two current members of the city police department to the administrative position of "deputy chief of police" who shall hold this exempt position at the pleasure of the chief.
   (B)   Any appointment to the administrative position of deputy chief of police shall be from the existing sworn full time officers of the city. The appointee shall serve at the discretion of the chief of police and may be removed as deputy chief at any time by the chief of police.
   (C)   In the event the chief of police shall appoint an officer to fill one or both deputy chief of police positions created herein, the appointee to any such position shall maintain his or her then current rank within the department and shall revert to said rank upon the termination of his or her appointment to deputy chief. In the event an officer is appointed to the deputy chief of police position, that officer's current rank shall not be filled as said officer shall maintain his or her current rank while serving as deputy chief of police.
