The two members of the board of trustees of the police pension fund who are to be elected from the police force by the active members thereof, and the one member to be elected by and from among the beneficiaries of the fund, shall be elected at an election held biennially in even- numbered years on the third Monday in April. The election shall be held at a place within the city as shall be prescribed by the members of the board appointed by the mayor, and shall be conducted under the Australian ballot system, and other regulations as shall be prescribed by the two members of the board appointed by the mayor. Members shall be elected for a term of two years, the term beginning on the second Tuesday of May, after the election.
