Any member of the planning and zoning commission may resign from his office. If a vacancy in office occurs by reason of death, resignation, or removal from office for cause, the vacancy shall be filled by appointment by the mayor by and with the consent of the council. The appointee shall serve for the remainder of the term of office which has become vacant.
