§ 33.40 CREATION OF OFFICE OF BUILDING COMMISSIONER; APPOINTMENT; REMOVAL.
   The office of building commissioner is created, and the executive official in charge shall be known as the building commissioner. The building commissioner shall be appointed as required by law. His appointment shall continue during good behavior and satisfactory service. He shall not be removed from office except for cause, after full opportunity has been given him to be heard on specific charges. Whenever the office of building commissioner is or becomes vacant, or in the event that the occupant of that office is absent or unavailable, all building, occupancy, or other similar permits shall be issued by the chairman of the license and permits committee of the city council.
