The Fire Department shall:
(A) Be responsible for fire prevention education;
(B) Be responsible for the inspection of new commercial property, existing commercial property and shall require compliance with applicable local, county, state and federal laws for its occupancy. Enforcement, outside of plan approval and inspection shall be done through the office of Emergency Services;
(C) Have a Chief of Operations and be commissioned as such by the state’s Commission of Fire Protection; and
(D) Provide primary fire suppression and fire rescue within the city and those areas where interlocal agreements for services are executed.
