§ 31.46 DUTIES AND AUTHORITY.
   The office of Public Safety shall:
   (A)   Be an office created by the City Council;
   (B)   Have investigative duties, arrest powers and criminal case preparation authority, as defined by local and state law;
   (C)   Perform law enforcement duties, as required by law, to ensure the peace and to protect property;
   (D)   Perform primary fire protection, education/prevention, inspection of new and existing structures and ensure compliance with application fire safety codes;
   (E)   Oversee the Public Safety Communications Center; and
   (F)   Assist the office of Emergency Services as necessary in the event of an emergency or criminal investigation into the cause and origin of fire or other areas of lawful jurisdiction.
