(A) The office of Public Safety shall be created. The Chief of Public Safety is appointed by the City Manager.
(B) The office of Public Safety shall be responsible for primary law enforcement/primary fire protection within its city and those jurisdictions as authorized by interlocal agreements.
(C) (1) The office of Public Safety is not subject to civil service requirements or standards.
(2) All employees of the Department are unclassified employees appointed under and subject to all of the applicable provisions of the personnel policies of the city.
(D) The office of Public Safety is authorized by applicable local and state laws for the discharge of official duties.
