For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
GARAGE SALE OPERATOR. Any person with a permit issued by the city to operate a garage sale.
GARAGE SALE PERMIT. A permit issued by the city for the purposes of residents to display and offer for sale, under the terms and conditions of this chapter, their personal disposable items.
GARAGE SALES. All general sales, open or advertised to the public, conducted from or on a residential premises (single-family, duplexes or apartments) in any residential zone for the purpose of disposing of tangible personal property. See definition below of PERSONAL PROPERTY.
PERSON. Includes individuals, partnerships, voluntary associations and corporations.
PERSONAL PROPERTY. Property, which is owned, utilized and maintained by an individual or members of his or her residence, and acquired in the normal course of living in or maintaining a residence. Merchandise, new or seemingly new, acquired for resale at a garage sale or obtained by consignment for sale at a garage sale is prohibited. There shall be no sale of prepared food items such as burgers, tacos and the like.
RESIDENCE. Any single-family structure or multi-family complex, which may be owned, rented or leased.
