If at the end of ten days after posting of notice as provided in this subchapter, the owner or any person interested in the abandoned article or articles has not removed the articles, the enforcement officer may cause the article of abandoned property to be removed and destroyed and salvage value, if any, shall be retained by the town to be applied against the cost of removal and destruction thereof.
