(A) All recyclable material, before being placed in the recycling containers, shall be drained of all free liquids.
(B) Recyclable material shall be sorted and placed in the refuse container provided by the city designated for recyclable material. Residents receiving curbside service shall place recycling containers at curbside separate and apart from any other containers on specified collection days. Multifamily residents shall place recyclables in special containers provided specifically for the storage/collection of such materials. The abuse or use of recycling containers for purposes other than as provided herein is prohibited.
(C) Recyclable materials placed in recycling containers for collection shall become the property of the city. Recyclable materials placed in any container in or at any parks, picnic areas, golf courses, property owned, leased and controlled by the city shall become the property of the city to own and sell.
(D) Any person(s) who shall knowingly, without proper authorization remove recyclable materials or recycling bins or both from place of collection, with the intent to, either temporarily or permanently deprive the city of the right or benefit of such recyclable materials or recycling bins, shall be guilty of theft under F.S. § 812.014 and shall be punished in accordance with F.S. §§ 775.082 and 775.083.
(E) Recyclable materials are limited to the following for residential customers:
(1) Metal or aluminum cans - clean aluminum tin or steel food and beverage containers;
(2) Paper and cardboard - clean and dry flattened cardboard, newspapers, magazines, office paper and common main; and
(3) Plastic bottles and jugs - food and liquid containers with the lids on (Pete or polyethylene terephthalate and HDPE or high-density polyethylene).
