(A) Class title. Custodian.
(B) Characteristics of class. Under general supervision, performs cleaning, custodial and routine maintenance work; distributes mail; and does related work as required.
(C) Examples of duties. Vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs and polishes floors. Washes walls, windows and woodwork. Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies. Dusts, polishes, arranges and moves furniture and equipment. Checks and replaces burned out light bulbs. Sets out refuse containers for pick up. May run errands. May mow grass, cut weeds.
(D) Minimum qualifications.
(1) Training and experience. Completion of the eighth grade with ability to read and write.
(2) Special necessary requirements.
(a) Possession of a valid driver's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
(b) Ability to pass a physical examination.
(3) Special knowledge, skills and abilities. Working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to perform routine operations involved in custodial duties without immediate supervision. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with employees, officials and the public. Dependability. Thoroughness. Initiative. Tact. Resourcefulness. Integrity.
