§ 37.37  TRAFFIC AND PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.
   (A)   Class title. Traffic and Parking Enforcement Officer.
   (B)   Characteristics of class. Under general supervision, performs traffic and parking control work; and does related work as required.
   (C)   Examples of duties. Walks designated beat in the city or patrols designated area.  Issues tickets for such standing violations as cars improperly parked in loading or restricted zones.  Issues warning tickets for cars facing the wrong direction. Gives information and directions, particularly to out-of-town visitors. Occasionally does general and routine clerical work such as preparing and filing violation and collection reports. Directs traffic during school hours and for the city's businesses.  Assists officers with parades, escorts and similar traffic assignments as needed. Relieves parking lot attendant when needed.
   (D)   Minimum qualifications.
      (1)   Training and experience.  Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED) or vocational school supplemented by one year of responsible clerical or related experience.
      (2)   Special necessary requirements. 
         (a)   Possession of a valid driver's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
         (b)   Ability to pass a physical examination.
      (3)   Special knowledge, skills and abilities.  Working knowledge of the general layout of the city, of street names, principal intersections, and meter locations. Working knowledge of ordinances relating to meter parking and standing violations.  Ability to prepare routine reports of daily work. Basic mechanical ability. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees, officials and the public.  Physical strength and agility sufficient to work outdoors in inclement weather. Dependability. Neatness. Tact. Firmness. Resourcefulness. Accuracy. Integrity.
