§ 37.35  PUBLIC SERVICE WORKER II.
   (A)   Class title.  Public Service Worker II.
   (B)   Characteristics of class.
      (1)   Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled to skilled work of moderate difficulty in a variety of public service activities; and does related work as required.
      (2)   Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all work tasks which may be performed.
   (C)   Examples of duties. Supervises/trains Public Service Workers I in routine tasks. May serve as lead worker on a blacktop patching crew, sewer line repair and/or building and grounds maintenance. Assists in making minor and more skilled repairs to equipment. Installs and repairs sewer pipes, posts, septic tanks, fences, water lines, signs, pavement markings. Digs ditches, trenches; loads dirt, rock and equipment onto trucks. Assembles concrete forms; pours and spreads concrete. Seasonally shovels snow and spreads salt onto roadways and sidewalks. Prunes trees, shrubs, vines. Operates jackhammer, concrete saw, pipe bender and threader, paint sprayer, air compressor, pumps and other hand and power tools.  Places and retrieves traffic cones and barricades.  Performs traffic counts. Paints curbs. Cleans storm sewer catch basins. May perform welding. Periodically operates large tractors, pickup trucks and other related equipment. Notifies homeowners of need to raise manholes; smoke tests manholes; cleans debris from manholes; repairs damage to lawns and property. May occasionally operate backhoe, roller, grader, paver, chain saw or related equipment, especially medium to heavy equipment. Performs and maintains various types of simple records and activity reports.
   (D)   Minimum qualifications.
      (1)   Training and experience.  Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED) or vocational school supplemented by two years of responsible related experience.
      (2)   Special necessary requirements. 
         (a)   Valid Kentucky driver's license.
         (b)   May be subject to emergency callback.
         (c)   Ability to pass physical examination.
      (3)   Special knowledge, skills and abilities.  Considerable knowledge of the proper use of hand and power tools. Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.  Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, officials, and the public. Physical strength and ability to perform strenuous manual labor under varying weather conditions. Dependability. Alertness. Accuracy. Integrity.
