§ 37.32  FIREFIGHTER RECRUIT.
   (A)   Class title.  Firefighter Recruit.
   (B)   Characteristics of class.  Under close supervision and, as a recruit performs firefighting, fire prevention and dispatcher duties; and does related work as required.
   (C)   Examples of duties.  This position performs the duties of a regular, operating level firefighter on an apprenticeship basis.
   (D)   Minimum qualifications.
      (1)   Training and experience.  Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
      (2)   Special necessary requirements. 
         (a)   Successful completion of required training.
         (b)   Possession of a valid Kentucky driver's license.
         (c)   Ability to pass a physical examination.
         (d)   Ability to become certified as an emergency Medical Technician.
      (3)   Special knowledge, skills and abilities.  Ability to learn the street system and physical layout of the city.  Ability to learn a variety of firefighting duties and methods, including the operation of firefighting apparatus, within a reasonable working test period.  Ability to learn ambulance attendant duties, methods and techniques.  Physical strength and agility.  Ability to perform under adverse conditions. Ability to perform the mechanical work involved in operating and maintaining firefighting apparatus, equipment and tasks.  Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.  Initiative. Resourcefulness  Dependability.  Firmness.  Tact.  Integrity. A firefighter recruit will advance to the classification of firefighter upon qualification as a Kentucky Certified Firefighter.
