(A) Class title. Assistant City Clerk.
(B) Characteristics of class. Under general supervision, mails out and assists in the collection of taxes and license fees; types; and does related work as required.
(C) Examples of duties. Answers phone; relays messages to all departments. Does all mailing of occupational and property taxes, business licenses. Assists in the collection of taxes and license fees. Balances daily sheet and makes deposits on all accounts. Sends notices on all overdue parking tickets; deposits money in proper account. Collects all insurance premium taxes. Processes daily mail. Mails trash hauling bills. Issues building and electrical permits. Receives inquiries and complaints and attends to their disposition.
(D) Minimum qualifications.
(1) Training and experience. Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED) supplemented by business courses and one year of progressively responsible experience in clerical or related fields.
(2) Special knowledge, skills and abilities. Working knowledge of modern office methods, techniques and equipment, ability to make arithmetic computations quickly and accurately. Typing ability. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials and the general public. Ability to keep confidential information. Alertness. Accuracy. Neatness. Courtesy. Tact. Firmness. Integrity.
