§ 37.24  RECREATION DIRECTOR.
   (A)   Class title. Recreation Director.
   (B)   Characteristics of class. Under general supervision, directs the City's Recreation Department, which includes the Community Center, pool, park and playground; and does related work as required.
   (C)   Examples of duties. Prepares a comprehensive recreation program designed to benefit all citizens of the community. Schedules, supervises, coordinates and evaluates all departmental employees. Supervises the maintenance of recreational facilities, arranging for necessary repairs, purchase contracts, control and issuance of equipment. Prepares and applies for grants for program. Prepares reports for City Council and Recreation and Tourism Commission. Prepares monthly employee time sheets. Oversees all scheduled events; collects and deposits event fees with City Clerk/Treasurer.  Enforces rules and keeps order in Center. Maintains contacts with civic groups and other organizations interested in sports, crafts and other recreational. activities.
   (D)   Minimum qualifications.
      (1)   Training and experience. Graduation from an accredited college or university with courses in recreation or physical education, supplemented by two years of progressively responsible recreation experience; or high school graduation supplemented by six years of progressively responsible experience in recreation.
      (2)   Special necessary requirement.  Possession of a valid driver's license.
      (3)   Special knowledge, skills and abilities.  Considerable knowledge of the objectives and philosophy of public recreation.  Considerable knowledge of recreation materials and equipment.  Supervisory and analytical abilities. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials and the public. Thoroughness. Tact. Resourcefulness. Initiative. Integrity.
