§ 37.21  SANITATION SUPERVISOR.
   (A)   Class title. Sanitation Supervisor.
   (B)   Characteristics of class. Under general supervision, oversees the operations of workers, trucks and packer; lays out refuse collection routes and schedules; and does related work as required.
   (C)   Examples of duties. Schedules and supervises sanitation workers in the collection of refuse. Makes sure premises are left clean. Ensures that collection schedule is maintained.  Oversees proper maintenance of packers.  Answers inquiries and complaints and attends to their disposition.  Arranges for extra garbage hauls. Checks dumpsters to ensure they are in proper working condition.
   (D)   Minimum qualifications.
      (1)   Training and experience. Graduation from high school or its equivalent (GED) or vocational school supplemented by two years of responsible experience in sanitation.
      (2)   Special necessary requirements.
         (a)   Possession of a valid driver's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
         (b)   Ability to pass a physical examination.
      (3)   Special knowledge, skills and abilities.  Ability to understand hazards in the operation of heavy equipment. Ability to work for long periods of time during inclement weather.  Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Appreciation of safety precautions and preventive maintenance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials and the general public.  Supervisory ability.  Basic mechanical understanding and ability.  Sound judgment.  Dependability. Resourcefulness. Initiative. Integrity.
