167.481 BEREAVEMENT LEAVE.
   (a)   In the event of death in the employee’s immediate family, the employee shall be granted bereavement leave of three working days, which must include the day of the funeral, not to affect the employee’s unused sick leave credit balance. This three days may be extended as set forth in Section (4) of the sick leave provisions of this Agreement, Article XVI.
   (b)   For the purposes of bereavement leave, “immediate family” shall mean: spouse, child, grandchild, mother, mother-in-law, father, father-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandparents, grandparents-in-law, legal guardian, or any person who stands in the place of a parent (loco parentis).
   (c)   An employee may request up to three days of sick leave to attend the funeral of the following: domestic partner, aunt, uncle, or cousin.
   (d)   The department head may, at his or her discretion, require verification of attendance from the funeral director prior to granting/authorizing such leave.
