(a) Normally vacations may not be carried over into another year. However, upon the specific authorization of the Mayor and Council, vacation time may under unusual circumstances be carried over for one year. (Passed 7-6-81.)
(b) Employees must take their vacations as per City ordinance instead of requesting pay in lieu of vacation. However, under special circumstances and upon written request, Council may consider granting pay in lieu of vacation.

(c) Vacation credits will not accrue during the first three months of employment. Upon completion of three months of credited service, vacation credits will be computed from date of hire. Upon completion of one year service employees shall accrue vacation credits from anniversary date at .38461538 per day until July 1, and thereafter will accrue vacation credit in accordance with subsection (f) hereof. The vacation period after one year of service shall be from July 1, to June 30.
(d) Vacation credits will only be computed and allotted to full-time permanent employees.
(e) If a Municipally observed holiday falls within an employee’s vacation period, the employee is entitled to an additional day of vacation.
