5-3-5: IMPOUNDMENT PROCEDURE; REDEMPTION:
   A.   Notification Of Impoundment; Redemption Fees: Any dog found at large, or any dog found without proper immunization tags shall be impounded. The owner of any licensed dog shall be notified, and upon payment of the impounding costs, kennel costs, dogcatcher fees, and such other fees and costs as the city council may establish, such animal shall be returned.    B.   Disposal Of Unclaimed Licensed Dog: If the impounded licensed dog is not recovered by its owner within seven (7) days after notice, the dog shall be disposed of by the kennel personnel, or as otherwise ordered by the mayor.
   C.   Redemption Of Unlicensed Dog: Any impounded unlicensed dog may be recovered by the owner upon proper identification and by producing at the time of recovery a current license from Johnson County, and also a record of immunization against rabies administered within two (2) years of the date of recovery. Upon said showing and paying the impounding costs, kennel costs, etc., within seven (7) days after impounding, the dog shall be returned to its owner.
   D.   Disposal Of Unlicensed Dog: If said conditions are not met within the seven (7) days, the unlicensed dog shall be disposed of by the kennel personnel or as otherwise ordered by the mayor. (Ord. 86-75, 3-27-1986; amd. 2015 Code)
