127.12 MAXIMUM AGE FOR AN ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AS A POLICE OFFICER.
   (a) In accordance with the provisions of Ohio R.C. 124.41, which establishes a maximum age of thirty-four years for original appointments to a Police Department unless a different maximum age is established by local ordinance, Council hereby determines that decreasing the maximum age for such appointments to the Oxford Police Department as a Police Officer will benefit the public interest and general welfare of the citizens of Oxford, Ohio.
(b)    Council hereby establishes the age of thirty-five (35) as the maximum age for an original appointment to the Oxford Police Department as a Police Officer of any individual who was not previously appointed an Ohio Police Officer and not previously certified as an Ohio Police Officer. No person shall be declared disqualified for such appointment as over age prior to his or her thirty-sixth (36th) birthday

   (c)    For those individuals who were previously certified as an Ohio Police Officer, but not a City of Oxford Police Officer, and who have experience working as an Ohio Police Officer the maximum age for an original appointment to the City of Oxford Police Department as a Police Officer shall be the age of fifty (50). No person with prior experience as an Ohio Police Officer shall be declared disqualified for such appointment as over the age prior to his or her fifty-first (51st) birthday. These restrictions shall not restrict the reemployment of a City of Oxford Police Officer who has worked as a City of Oxford Police Officer previously.
