127.09 AUXILIARY POLICE.
   (a)   There is hereby established an auxiliary police unit for the City for the purpose of aiding and assisting the regular established Police Division and of creating and sponsoring a youth cadet corps.
   (b)   Membership in the auxiliary police unit shall not exceed fifteen persons and applicants shall not be under the age of twenty-one years.
   (c)   An auxiliary police officer shall be appointed by the Chief of Police, with the approval of the City Manager, to act in the capacity of auxiliary instructor and advisor.
   (d)   Selection to the auxiliary police unit shall be made on the same basis as in recruiting regular personnel to the Police Division but appointees will not be under the classified service or subject to civil service rules and regulations.
   (e)   The Chief of Police, with the approval of the City Manager, shall establish rules and regulations for the organization, training, administration, control and conduct of the auxiliary police unit.
   (f)   Members of the auxiliary police unit will receive such compensation as may be determined by Council. (Ord. 3056. Passed 6-2-09.)
