It is the intent, purpose, and scope of this chapter to promote and protect the health, safety, or general welfare of the citizens of the city by empowering them to regulate and restrict the height, number of stories, size of buildings and other structures, percentage of a lot that may be occupied by construction, size of yards and other open spaces, density of population, location and use of buildings, structures, and land for agriculture, trade, industry, residence, and other purposes as detailed in KRS 100.203.
