§ 36.17 SELECTION AND REMOVAL OF OFFICERS.
   (A)   A Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief shall be appointed annually by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council as a nonelected city office pursuant to § 31.35. The Fire Chief and officers will concern themselves with the fighting and the prevention of fires. The Fire Chief and his subordinate officers or other designated qualified firefighters will occupy the passenger's seat of either pumper. They will be in charge of the fire scene until relieved by a higher ranking officer. When the fire is out, the commanding officer will secure the scene and see to the rearming of the pumper for the next run. The Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, and all subordinate officers shall have a minimum of 150 certified hours and three years actual firefighting experience.
   (B)   The Fire Chief or Assistant Fire Chief may be removed by the Mayor pursuant to § 31.35(C).
