(A) The office of city police officer is hereby established.
(B) The powers and duties of the office of city police officer shall be as stated in the adopted position description for said position as contained in the classification plan for city employees, or as otherwise provided by the City Council.
(C) The individual holding the position of city police officer shall take the following oath upon assuming office:
I, (state your name), do solemnly swear to faithfully execute the duties and fulfill the responsibilities of the office of city police officer to the very best of my abilities and with honesty, dependability and integrity, I do solemnly swear to uphold, in the conduct of my office, all ordinances of the city of Owingsville and all laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and of the government of the United States. I do further solemnly swear to conduct myself at all times with a dignity of purpose and manner which will bring to the citizens of the city of Owingsville.
(D) The city police officer shall, before entering the duties of office, execute a bond to the city in the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00), conditioned for the faithful performance of duties, including duties of all offices of which he is ex officio incumbent. The bond shall be approved by the City Council.
(E) The individual holding the position of city police officer shall be compensated for his efforts in accordance with the adopted pay plan, or as otherwise provided by the City Council.
