The Sheriff’s reserve unit shall maintain and keep in force at all times a group accident, medical and death benefit insurance policy or policies, providing insurance coverage for all members of the Sheriff’s reserve unit. Such policy or policies shall be subject to prior approval of the Sheriff, County Commissioners and County Council and a certificate of such insurance shall be delivered to the County Auditor. Premiums for said insurance shall be paid by the county. The county shall also provide adequate liability insurance for members of the reserve unit while on duty.
