§ 39.097 INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS.
   Independent contractors employed through the county are exempt from this subchapter. This subchapter also exempts all county employees who perform “safety sensitive jobs”, including mechanics and employees who are required to hold a commercial driver’s license (CDL) to perform their job functions: truck drivers; bus drivers; mechanics; heavy equipment operators; and any other position that require a commercial driver’s license, as these “safety sensitive” employees are subject to separate substance abuse testing as directed by the Department of Transportation.
